Session 1 and 2 Focus

Education Gateway asks, “Do we teach in a way that will be remembered?”

Key Question:

How may our understanding of education shape the way we value and define education, especially among audiences who may prefer to communicate using oral methods?

Key Observations:

  1. We are called to pass on to others what has been entrusted to us (2 Tim 2:2; Eph 4:11; Deut 6; 1 Cor 12).

  2. Learners deserve fruitful teaching methods

  3. We seek to serve as a platform for sharing and discussing reproducible orality-framed educational theory, practices, and methods

Key Objectives for 2019:

1.     Facilitate the understanding of orality in educational curricula

2.     Coordinate exchange of communication within communities engaged in educating oral cultures

3.     Resource and communicate with other Gateways

4.     Organize and lead education gatherings through the year, including ION consultations

New to our gathering? With us, we invite you to:

  1. Share your story and network with educators for creative solutions

  2. Dialog with educators who have implemented oral strategies (N.A. and International)

  3. Meet potential partners who have transformed their work through oral methods

  4. Discuss various streams of oral methods among formal and non-formal educators

  5. Recommend various orality resources for your educational work

  6. Enjoy learning and sharing how education is being changed through oral methods
